This Saturday, 6th June, riders take off from the Mid North town of Robertstown as they compete in Round 3 of the Championship, the ‘Lew Job 2 Day Road Trial’.

The event is presented by the Velocette Motorcycle Club and their major sponsor is once again Pitmans Motorcycles.

Affectionately know as the ‘Robby 2 Day’ the event is renowned for the tough conditions riders find in both weather and terrain. Main control is based at the Robertstown Oval.

There are bonus points up for grabs in the championship for those who are serious, and most riders consider this a great test of reliability in preparation for Round 4 of the SART Championship, which is the Swann Insurance 24 Hour to be held on July 11th & 12th at Eudunda. Both these events are significant in that they include a large component of night riding.

In the SART Championship, after competing in Round 1 the ‘Philip Haydon Trial’ at Tarlee and Round 2 the ‘Mike Connors Trial’ at Sedan the Eudunda boys are doing very well.

Toby Lewis is winning the series and has had 2 wins from 2 starts in the Expert Class. Daniel Prior is 7th outright and riding in Expert Class, Nelson Lewis is 8th outright and rides in the Expert Class. Max Schutz is sitting in 1st place in the Open 2 stroke Class and is 24th outright. Ben Prior has had an impressive start for his first year riding Road Trials, currently sitting 1st on equal points in the 350 Class and 12th outright.

As well as riding the South Australian Reliability Trials Championship (SA Road Trial Series), all these boys have been busy travelling around the state competing in the SA Off Road Championship Series (SAORC) which seen them head to Murray Bridge for their first round and then onto Wanbi for the 2nd and 3rd rounds, which saw them competing against the best riders in Australia.

These local boys, all aged between just 17 and 20 years of age rely on Chad’s Motorcycle Repairs in getting ready for each event. Chad’s enthusiasm, knowledge and experience with bikes have seen many late nights in his shed to ensure each bike was in mint condition and ready to hit the track.

A highlight of the event is the access to catering and camping for supporters and spectators. Organisers say full catering will be available all weekend thanks to the Robertstown footy and social clubs.
Camping for the weekend is welcomed & encouraged anywhere within the football oval grounds. Toilet & Shower facilities are available.

The event will start and finish at the Robertstown Football oval, Main St, Robertstown. The course is approx. 100 km in total distance, with day and night riding on the Saturday and daylight only on the Sunday. Saturday will cover 2 laps and Sunday covering 2 laps in the same direction.
The competition class will be in order of Clubman Sidecars, Expert Sidecars & Masters, Solo Clubman & Solo Experts. The first competition rider will leave main at 12.31 on Saturday.

So Eudunda & Robertstown people get behind your local riders and encourage them.

If you are attending the event in any capacity, please drive or ride carefully. Don’t forget to support the local caterers at the Robertstown Oval.
