Kapunda Farm Fair 20-21 April 2012

The region’s next big event the Kapunda Farm Fair is just around the corner.
The organisers have lots for people to do and see, and Eudunda businesses support the event by having stands there, so why not go and check out this great event.

Organisers are proud to be bringing Sophie Thomson to the Kapunda Farm Fair to talk to our keen gardeners.

Sophie is a South Australian personality on television’s Gardening Australia and throughout the two days of the 2012 Kapunda Farm Fair she will be presenting some very interesting talks about plants and gardening.

Opening of the 2012 Walking Season – 1st April at Truro

This is a “DON’T MISS” event on Sunday 1st April. Location is the Truro Oval which is situated two streets to your left as you enter from the Barossa direction.
Too far to go? It will take you under 55 minutes to get there if you live in the northern suburbs and travel via the Northern Expressway This was how long it takes from Prospect on a weekday. Expect even less travel time for this event on a Sunday morning.
This will be the first opportunity to see some of the magnificent walking country in this region. Guided walks will commence at 10.30 am and available to anybody wishing to participate. A walk of 4 km across private property will include views over the surrounding countryside and through a gorge along Truro Creek (photos below).

Displays from walking clubs, outdoor centres showing new release clothing and walking equipment, maps, local information and many displays of interest to walkers and outdoor enthusiasts can be seen. The SARTI stand will display a map of the proposed next section of the Lavender Federation Trail through to Eudunda with photos of this section as well as the new sections of main, loop and spur trails. Food is available at the venue, nearby local bakeries & take-away shops.
Truro, the location for this years “Opening of the Walking Season” is organized by Walking SA and is the gateway of the Barossa from the north-eastern end of the region.

Monday Night Update

What an event! Approximately 1,000 people, many coming back on the second day to see Mark finish were happy to see that Mark shore 327 sheep in the 24hr, and that the event has raised over $30,000. Congratulations Mark, you are a hero, congratulations to the team at the Barossa branch of Make A Wish Australia and to all those who helped in any way. Don’t forget you can still donate – there is an online link below!

Sunday Morning Update

Still a great time to come and encourage Mark to continue, he has done a great job so far, and so has everyone who has helped so far.
Drop in and say G’day to Mark, donate as much as you can, either at the oval or online (see below), and keep Mark going. To all those who have donated – THANK YOU! – at last count on everydayhero (Mark’s donation page) the donations were $23,575, a magnificent amount – please keep donating.


The 24th & 25th March will be a very busy and special time for local shearer Mark Steinbourner of Neales Flat as he aims to shear some 300 sheep over a 24hr period in a personal effort to raise money for the Barosssa Valley branch of Make-A-Wish® Australia.

The event will be at the Eudunda Oval, starting at 10am on the 24th March.
Mark & the volunteers of the Barossa Valley Make-A-Wish® Australia have been busy seeking donations for their fund raising auction which will be part of the event. They have already secured some great items. ‘Budgie’ Schiller of B M Livestock is an experienced auctioneer and will conduct the auction which is currently scheduled for 5:30 for a 6:00pm start on Saturday. Dustan from the great Aussie movie RED DOG will attend.

There will be many supporting activities,
Entertainment will be provided for children, textile and photography competitions, local bands to provide entertainment into the night.
Personalities from the AFL Crows and Port Power will attend. The auction will have some valuable, highly sort after items for the bidding, continuous BBQ and much more.
