The Raging Hormones introduce ‘Relay for Life’

Look out for one of these Collection Tins - spread throughout the district - or donate at one of the local business points

Dear Community Member,

There are very few people we know who can say that they have not been touched by cancer - whether it be directly or indirectly. It is a frightening fact that one in three South Australians will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their life and many more will be affected indirectly.

Despite its prevalence we have found a positive way to help in the fight for cancer – through The Cancer Council of South Australia’s ‘Relay for Life’.

‘Relay for Life’ is a team event to raise funds for cancer research. Its 20-hours of fun, with the challenge of completing a relay style walk/run at the Santos Stadium on the 2nd and 3rd April, 2005.

All donated funds go directly to the cause. 53% goes to cancer research, 18% to support services, 21% to education and prevention and 8% providing information resources.

A group of girls, mainly from the Eudunda area, have got together in support of a friend who has recently been diagnosed with cancer, to participate in ‘Relay for Life’. We decided to participate in this event, not only for our friend, but also for all who have been affected by cancer directly or indirectly.

This group of girls has decided to call themselves ‘The Raging Hormones’ (as all teams who participate are required to have a team name and theme!).

As a team we are required to raise funds prior to the event. Team members will be wearing a red ‘Relay for Life’ T-Shirt – so if you see us around, come up and sign our T-shirt for a donation.  Cheques can be sent to ‘The Raging Hormones’ C/- Box63, Eudunda (cheques need to be made payable to ‘Relay for Life’ – The Cancer Council SA). All donations over $2 are tax deductible (just make sure you attach your name and address if a receipt is required). Alternatively, donations can be left at The Eudunda Medical Practice, St. John’s Lutheran School and City Discount Tyres.  Also look out for the money tins scattered around the town.

So. Please, give this some serious thought and dig deep for this worthwhile cause.

Thanking you in anticipation.
