"Eudunda Golf Club Turns on a day that provided everything"

What with a record attendance and many spectators the 2003 JAK golf day introduced the added spectacle of Snowing as the players were completing there final few holes. A day that the 82 Golfers who played will be talking about for many years to come.

The President Mr Roy Fiegert and Secretary Mr Steve Turner welcomed everyone to the club and asked Robbie and Phillip Crowhurst to open the day by hitting the first balls to commemorate the loss of their father Mick. A minutes silence was held to also remember other golfing friends such as Rudi Schupelius, Dr DC Bowering and Leon Reese.

The scores were varied with the eventual winner being Mark Pettigrew scoring an impressive (for the conditions) 72 off the stick. There were many high points during the day and none better than to see the old school deputy head Mr Richie Walsh win the inaugural Father and Son Shield with son Richard who travelled home after 33 years just for the golfing day. Runners up Tony Eckerman with sons Joel, Cameron and Adam had a great day especially when they received the 9th hole flag which was named in their Dad and Grandpas honour. The winner of the Female Best off the stick was none other than Esther Gehling who was very honoured to receive her award.

Like the past 3 JAK Golf days there was plenty of stories being bandied around, along with the excellent food prepared by the Heritage Gallery ladies and a Golf Course that played truly but of course no one expected the snow which made the 4 JAK Golf day one the be remembered.

Thanks to Tim Knight for this report

PS. It was very cold!
The Eudunda Post Office recorded a Max Temp of 6.5°C and a Min temp of 2°C
The afternoon also included a good soaking rain for our farmers, Well Done! to all Golfers,
and especially to our Queensland visitors who braved the elements, well done!
